My Pilates Story

Hi - I am a long time Pilates Instructor and here is my story!

My name is Jamie Weller and I am currently a Pilates Instructor and Studio Owner in Columbus Ohio.  I have been teaching Pilates since 2008.  I hold a BA in Business Administration and am certified through Stott Pilates and Power Plate.  

Here’s a quick summary of how I came to be the co-owner of The Pilates Studio.  I was introduced to Pilates Reformer right out of college during my first job as the Fitness Manager of two Columbus Based Country Clubs.  I was hooked on Joseph Pilates' amazing method right away, so much so that when Polestar Pilates Certification company in Miami FL offered me a job in the Marketing Department I relocated.  I relocated again to Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort in CA for a  marketing job (I was in my 20s at this time and care free).  After a few years I decided to move back to Ohio and that’s when I made a huge career leap and quit marketing to get certified in Pilates.  I did all my training through Stott Pilates and in 2008 started teaching full time.  I eventually got married and had two lovely children.  Then Covid hit, I had some time to think about what I really wanted with my Pilates career and I really felt lead to Studio Ownership and Mentoring.  Katie (my business partner) and I loved the studio space we were currently working in, we had worked hard to establish real relationships with our co-workers and clients so we ultimately offered to buy out the previous owner.  In May 2021 we did it!  We bought our beloved studio.  

We have made some exciting changes in the studio and with our business focus. One thing we are really working hard on is Education and Mentoring so that we can help people with our same passion for Pilates become Instructors.  We currently offer Reformer Training every year and we recently started a Mentorship program which has been very successful this year.

I am going to use this blog to talk about things like, How do I choose a Pilates Instructor? Should I do Private or Group Classes?  Once I am certified, what’s next?  I’m sure Katie will also share her story with you soon too!
